Madness Domain

The first one is an entry from the Spell Compendium the second one from the SRD. Which one is the true?

MADNESS DOMAIN
Granted Power: You subtract 1 from all Wisdom-based skill
checks and all Will saves. However, once per day, you can see
and act with the clarity of true madness: Add one-half your level
to a single Wisdom-based skill check or Will save. You must
choose to use this benefit before the check or save is rolled.

Madness Domain
Granted Power

The character gains an Insanity score equal to half his or her class level. For spellcasting (determining bonus spells and DCs), the character uses his or her Wisdom score plus his or her Insanity score in place of Wisdom alone.

For all other purposes, such as skills and saves, use Wisdom minus Insanity in place of Wisdom.

Once per day, the character can see and act with the clarity of true madness. Use the character’s Insanity score as a positive rather than a negative modifier on a single roll involving Wisdom. Choose to use this power before the roll is made.

Since the first quote (from the Spell Compendium) is rather sucky and mostly negative, I would assume that the SRD one is correct. The Domain abilities are generally good for the Cleric, and I don't know of any examples where the Domain Spells are extra good to compensate for a crappy Domain ability, and IIRC the Madness Domain spells are on par with other Domains.

"True" is a relative term. The version on d20srd.org is the version from the (3.0) Divine SRD and is Open Content. The version from Spell Compendium is newer, but it isn't Open Content.

There's a similar situation with the feat Energy Substitution as well (Divne SRD version is different from the version in Complete Arcane).
